The winner of our recent matchup of the Twin Cities newest burger joints, the Denver-based Smashburger chain, opens a second location today at 509 Winnetka Avenue in Golden Valley. If you like what you find, you’ll be happy to know that Smashburger plans to open a Roseville restaurant in August and a Plymouth locale in September. According to Scott Crane, president of Smashburger, sales numbers support our hunch that Minnesotans are big into their burgers. “The first Minnesota Smashburger broke company sales records,” he says, “which just proves how much of a burger haven Minnesota is.”
