Smashburger opens in Atlanta: If you thought the burger craze was over, think again. Smashburger opened its first Atlanta location recently. There’s been a lot of buzz the certified Angus beef burgers, butter-toasted artisan buns and rosemary-and-garlic-seasoned fries. The Denver-based company takes its name comes from the technique used to “smash” the beef on a flat grill, searing in the juices. (more…)

Good morning locals, it’s time to break out your sunscreen. The rest of the week looks to be hot and sunny with just a few clouds here and there.
You may never have expected to see Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg in the kitchen, but he visited Fort Greene’s Smashburger Monday, as documented by his office’s Flickr photostream, and worked the grill for a few. Smashburger, the fast-casual “better burger” concept restaurant sweeping the nation is preparing to have Charlotte-area residents’ mouths’ watering. The restaurant will open its first Charlotte location on Monday, June 13, 2011, with four subsequent locations planned in the coming years. The restaurant will open in the Stonecrest Shopping Center at 7804 Rea Road, Suite B, bringing ”smashed-to-order” burgers, an array of signature sides, and delicious handspun Häagen-Dazs shakes to Charlotteans.
